Arms not built like I want. Help?

août 2nd, 2008 by kirbymcmillan

Hello buddy. I had the same problem when i started. Why don’t u try something that i followed.

Warmup - tricep pushdowns - 1 x 25 ( low weights)

Compund exercise:
Skull crushers ( 3 x 10) ( high intensity)
Close grip bench press ( 3 x 10) High intensity)

Isolation exercise
Overhead tricep extension ( 3 x 15 - 20) medium intensity
Tricep pushdowns ( 3 x 10 - 15) High intensity - using a V bar

Apart from these the important thing is if you are doing a two body part/day routine, you can do chest and tricep together.
If you are following a single body part routine like me, make sure you give ample time for recovery between your chest day and triceps day ( atleast 2 full days).
By doing this routine, i saw impressive results in my arms. Don’t be depressed about the ‘gene’ thing. It does play an important role but you will get there one day. Stay focussed.

When Do You Think The World Will End?

août 1st, 2008 by kirbymcmillan

Well, the world — as in this planet — will end when either something knocks it off its orbit or the sun dies out [or explodes].

If you’re talking about humanity, I give it another 40 years at most. Pollution, drought, famine, or atomic/germ warfare will wipe out humanity soon enough.

Pollution is endangering plankton, which is having an effect on the very foundation of the food chain. The population continues growing [birth control? — what’s that?] and the earth has only so much viable farming area. Our drinking water is either getting wasted or polluted by run-off from corporations. And of course, scientists keep dreaming up new ghastly ways to kill human beings, so the chances of them being used continues to rise.

So, take your pick.

What are a good brand of riding jeans?

juillet 31st, 2008 by kirbymcmillan

I don’t wear any specific brand. Usually I go to Kohl’s or Marshall’s and buy the cheapest pair of jeans they have. They need to be the stretch kind, especially if you do any kind of hard riding like jumping, where you need to be able to move in the saddle and have a certain amount of flexibility. No matter what you wear, they will wear out. It’s inevitable, I’m afraid, especially if you ride often. So I tend not to drop a lot of money on my jeans. If you go to the right discount stores, you can find jeans as cheap as five dollars. And since all our money as horse-people tends to go into our animals, we have to look for bargains where we can. Also, the best thing to ride in as an English rider is a good pair of breeches. It also saves the soft leather of higher quality saddles. Denim can really have a bad effect on the leather, so I try to avoid riding in jeans whenever I can. It’s an inconvenience, but its worth protecting such an expensive investment as a saddle.

Kellogg’s All-Bran Cereal Contains High Fructose Corn Syrup?

juillet 30th, 2008 by kirbymcmillan

The second ingredient is High Fructose Corn Syrup. It is loaded with sugar and the sugar is made from corn. This corn is genetically modified and therefore has no traceability, so if you get sick from it or develop allergies, you won’t be able to know that it came from the Corn syrup. Thank you FDA.

The bran is CORN bran that is genetically engineered. All the corn GMO has the insecticide gene in it, the terminator gene, and the Antibiotic Marker Gene. So you are getting insecticide in each kernal of corn that has been ground up, Antibiotics and who really knows what else. The corn has been grown on chemically treated, nutrient depleted soils so there is little real nutrition in it.

The salt is ordinary white table salt that is loaded with chemicals. The natural colour is a chemical that came from who knows where and the vitamins have been added to put back in the nutrients processed out. But, they use synthetic chemical activators, not real vitamins, so you only get a portion of the vitamin matrix, therefore it depletes your body of the cofactors normally found in the real vitamins. A good example of this is the “thiamin hydrochloride.” This is extracted from “Coal Tar.” Yummm. The BHT is Butylated hydroxytoluene, an excytotoxin being used as a preservative. I hope you haven’t had a heart attack lately. That is definitely not something you want to eat.

The answer to your question, is YES, the High Fructose Corn Syrup makes this garbage unhealthier. It affects your blood sugar level and contributes to wreaking havoc with your endocrine system, not to mention the affects of it being GMO.

The Kellog company is not our friend. They constantly put Profit over health. I would not touch anything they make. Is it no wonder 35% of ALL children born in America after the year 2000 will get diabetes! This is according to the CDC report, 2005.

good luck

Why do new moms have such a hard time breastfeeding?

juillet 29th, 2008 by kirbymcmillan

BC we don’t have the supports that women used 2. It used to be you learned skill from your mothers and aunts and older sisters etc. Now our world isn’t so family orientated. A lot of women haven’t held a baby until they give birth. If everyone had someone to teach them skills on how to properly breastfeed I’m sure it would go smoother. I had an awful time for the first 4 weeks. I had cracked sore nipples, trouble with my milk supply, a thrush infection and very serious mastitis. luckily I had a boyfriend who really wanted me to breastfeed and would help me each time. I fed every 1-2 hours and needed help to position the baby and also when we did supplementation through sns to help with tubes etc. I remember how proud i was the first time I breastfed while wearing a shirt! It took about 6 weeks and now im a pro at 3 months! I was never allowed to breastfeed in the delivery room because of my difficult birth but a baby instinctively knows how when first born. Most breastfeeding success are those people who first breastfeed after a delivery. The baby will actually crawl up a mothers chest and latch on. If not given the chance right away babies don’t imprint on there minds how to breastfeed. I think the way the medical system is contributes to difficulties breastfeeding…and I’m a RN. Anyway there’s my rant on the subject.

Does born again of the Holy Spirit mean the same as been born of God?

juillet 28th, 2008 by kirbymcmillan

“Jesus answered, ‘Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, “You must be born again.” The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.’” (John 3:5-8).

Those born of “the Spirit” are children of God: “But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you…For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.” (Romans 8:11-14).

What is the difference in the repossessions process between buy to let and residential mortgages?

juillet 27th, 2008 by kirbymcmillan

You should discuss any (fixable) problems you have making payments with the lender ..

If they can see your problems are temporary and you are making efforts to resolve the situation, they may agree to freeze interest or (temporary) reduce payments until eg. you find a new tenant OR sell the house (or some other house) to raise cash & pay off the mortgage

If you keep making at least SOME payment (even if not the full amount) they should again be more willing to compromise .. however as a ‘rule of thumb’ if they see no way out or think you are not making an effort and/or you have missed 3 months in a row they WILL start proceedings to repossess ..

If they repossess they will load all their costs onto what you owe and then sell the house at auction for a massive discount (after all, how did YOU buy the house in the first place ?) … you will then be a LOT worse off than if you had sold privatively, since for one thing, you may never get another buy-to-let Mortgage and for another your other lenders might start getting ‘twitchy’ …

So very few ‘buy-to-let’ properties are ever repossessed … = most owners manage to sell up before it reaches that stage …

In the entertainment business, what talent takes you the farthest?

juillet 26th, 2008 by kirbymcmillan

The ability to write original music, lyrics and melody.
But, as with any talent, studies done show that the
person must also be prolific and the prolific person
is most likely to make more money than a more talented
person who does the same thing, only less of it.
So basically, it is not talent that determines fame or gain.
Some older studies also showed that when albums were the
standard by which groups were judged, the second album
was what determined whether anyone bought their music.
It was as if art is ignored for just long enough for the challenge to be issued like a glove thrown on the floor in formal competition for acceptance. No matter how good the first impression made by the first album was, the second album is what people judged the group’s talent by. So much for the old addage that you only get one chance to make a first impression. It isn’t true. It’s what happens next that most people remember longest.

Work Permit?

juillet 25th, 2008 by kirbymcmillan

If you are planning to work in the US for 1-2 years, you need a work visa. And to do that you need to first find an employer who can sponsor you.

One reality is that it is not easy to find the exact position you want — if you want to get a job in the US, sometimes you have to compromise and accept a job in a slightly different field or capacity. When changing countries, as much as we want to maintain the status quo of our lives in our country of origin, oftentimes you are faced with different opportunities, different career choices. It will be a matter of how much you want to work in the USA and how much are you willing to sacrifice.

Try to contact companies that are in the same field as you currently are, and ask if they are sponsoring H1B applicants. It is often best to travel to the US for a few weeks or months to search for the job — having you here in the US will make employers more receptive because they can interview you much more easily than if you are in the UK. Some employers, when they see that you currently live and is in the UK will not even be bothered to read your resume because there are other candidates that they can call and easily interview in a day or two - without thinking of flying the candidate to the US and all those expenses.

is the Dam a source of Global warming ?

juillet 24th, 2008 by kirbymcmillan

They’re contributing in some ways and offsetting in others.

The large concrete dams use huge quantities of cement in their production, the extraction and processing of cement is one of the biggest emitters of greenhouse gases.

The body of water created by the construction of a dam is stationery in comparison to the river that would ordinarily flow. This allows the surface of the water to warm and evapourate more readily than it would with running water. The increased burden of atmospheric water vapour will contribute to global warming - more so in areas with lower humidity and higher temperatures.

Dams often lead to flooding of vegetated areas, this removes some biomass from the carbon cycle, the consequence of which is areduction in the amount of carbon dioxide sequesteered from the atmosphere for photosynthesis.

On the other hand, water is more reflective than earth and plant material and so reflects sunlight into space more efficiently thus partially offsetting the contribution made to warming.

If the still waters of the reservoir are home to algae this will sequester CO2 from the atmosphere, algae are excellent at doing this.

I guess the answer in respect of any one dam would be arrived at by summing the offsetting and contributory factors of the different components with the result that some dams are contributing to global warming whereas others are.

The purpose of the dam also needs to be taken into account. If that purpose is for hydro-electricity generation then there would be a substantial benefit if it meant a reduction in the burning of fossil fuels to generate the same power in conventional power stations. There would be no net benefit if the alternative were nuclear power as both nuclear and hydro produce almost no greenhouse gas emissions.
